Welcome to my personal site. This site contains things that interest me and that I might have found informative at one time or another.
I use to work in the IT field (plant closed). Now I am unemployed. I do a little of everything from PC support to programming. I choose to use open source software because can not afford to purchase the proprietary software. I find most of open source software I use, is as reliable or more than the proprietary software I have used.
I am also a Slackware Linux fan. I find it to be the easiest, most reliable and fastest Linux distribution around.
I know some of my political views might anger some. My political beliefs are based on the Constitution and believe it should be taken in the spirit with which it was written. Thomas Jefferson said the same thing
“On every question of construction carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed”
Another quote I find interesting is from James Madison (the author of the Constitution). I think it fits well in today’s political debates.
"If Congress can employ money indefinitely to the general welfare, and are the sole and supreme judges of the general welfare, they may take the care of religion into their own hands; they may appoint teachers in every State, county and parish and pay them out of their public treasury; they may take into their own hands the education of children, establishing in like manner schools throughout the Union; they may assume the provision of the poor; they may undertake the regulation of all roads other than post-roads; in short, every thing, from the highest object of state legislation down to the most minute object of police, would be thrown under the power of Congress.... Were the power of Congress to be established in the latitude contended for, it would subvert the very foundations, and transmute the very nature of the limited Government established by the people of America."
For all that would say my beliefs are not in line with the founders or American. I'll leave you with this quote from Samuel Adams.
"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."
